They say that the kitchen is the heart of the home. Therefore, many people want to have comfortable and functional kitchen. The most important and necessary appliance in the kitchen is a refrigerator. We cannot imagine our daily life without this device.
Despite the fact that only very few customers attach high importance to the choice of the best one, I think it is important to consider different types of refrigerators, their advantages and disadvantages and available options.
What should you consider when you are looking for refrigerators for sale?
Customers often take under consideration only the price and aesthetic design. Unfortunately, this factors can often lead to wrong choice which in turn will influence the future comfort of use. To prevent unwanted purchases, I present you the list of factor that should be taken under consideration before buying the refrigerator:
1) The energy efficiency class of the appliance
The refrigerator is a device which is always turned on and uses power, therefore it can lead to bigger electricity bills. So before buying, you should check its energy efficiency class. Currently you can easily get that information, because each appliance must have energy efficiency label. In stores you can also find that information in the description of the appliance parameters. On the market there are already models that use 20-60% less power.
2) Door system
The door opening direction is relevant when you are planning the kitchen design and furniture placement. It should be not only comfortable, but also allow free access to the shelves, so they could be easily removed and cleaned. Many appliances have the door installed to open to the right which is comfortable for the most of people. Some manufacturers make refrigerators with reversible door – you can change the hinges and install the door to open to the left or to the right. This option is very important, especially when you planning to redecorating the kitchen or to move.

3) Location of the freezer
The manufacturers present in their offer three types: the refrigerator with the freezer on the bottom or with the freezer on the top and individual cooling equipment. The first type gives easy access to the products in the refrigerator and at the same time there is a lot of space in the freezer.
The second type has more cooling space, but the access to the products is less comfortable. We have to bend down to the bottom shelves and for the elderly it can be a big hurdle. This model would be perfect for people who does not need a large space for frozen products and want to have a bigger cooling area.
The third option allows to separately adjust the refrigerator and freezer, and choose the appropriate size. However, this solution requires more space in the room.
4) Single door, double door and side-by-side refrigerator
Single door refrigerators are perfect for small apartments, summer houses, also for people who lives alone. Their advantage is small size, therefore the appliance take up little space in the kitchen. They can be equipped with an interior freezer, but you can also choose the refrigerator without the freezer.
Double door refrigerators are usually tall and have a large usable area which is their relevant advantage. They are designed for large kitchen and for big families that buy a large amounts of food.
In turn, side by side refrigerator is a device with the biggest useable space and double door opening to the outside and located side by side. The freezer is located on the one side and the refrigerator is on the other side. This type of appliance is big, tall and wide, therefore it is only suitable for large and spatial kitchen.
5) The noise level of the refrigerator
If you are buying the refrigerator you should also take under consideration what level of noise it makes. Some models are very loud and rarely turn off. If you do not want the refrigerator to interfere everyday life, you should choose the one that make a noise level of about 38 dB. The fewer decibels, the quieter device.
6) Freestanding or built- in refrigerator
Depending on the kitchen arrangement, you can choose the appropriate type of the device. You should remember that only models specifically designed can be built-in. They have properly constructed ventilation which makes them suitable to be built inside the kitchen furniture without damaging the appliance and furniture as well. This model has also special flat door, so you could install on them the door of furniture.
Modern refrigerators have many extra features which are very useful and helpful and will increase the comfort of using.
- No-Frost System- thanks to drying and air exchange there are no frost on the refrigerator interior and on the products. The interior of the refrigerator is ventilated. Melting of the frost and the drainage is also automatic. No-frost refrigerators do not require thawing. However, their disadvantage is too low humidity for longer storage of fresh products in the refrigerator.
- Fresh Frost Free System- it provides better conditions for food storage than traditional free-frost devices. Double air circulation, separate for the freezer and for the refrigerator, does not make the products dry out. Thanks to this system the odors do not mix.
- Anti-bacterial coating, containing silver ions, prevents the growth of mold, fungus, even if the product is expired or spoiled.
- Fast cooling and freezing- this functions, applied properly in the refrigerator and the freezer, allow for the temporary temperature reduction in the appliance, so you could quickly cool or freeze the products.
- Unclosed door alarm turn on after 2 minutes and does not allow the temperature inside to raise.
Where to put the refrigerator at home?
After the purchase of equipment for the kitchen, new devices should be properly arranged in the room. Often question is whether the refrigerator can be set next to the oven, the heater or the heating plate? The answer is no – because the refrigerator is a cooling appliance.
If the refrigerator is located near a heat source, the device can not only break, but also lead to increased electricity bills because of the incessant work. The manufacturers and specialists recommend to separate the refrigerator from the oven and the heater and set between them at least one cupboard. You should also avoid setting the microwave next to the refrigerator or, what is worse, on the refrigerator. It is also important to remember to separate the appliance from the wall, which will give you comfortable opening and removing the shelves for cleaning and also easy access to the products.
The recommended distance is approximately 4 inches (minimum). The back of the appliance should be separate from the wall as well. It will ensure proper air circulation and heat dissipation.
This basic factors are very significant and should be taken under consideration before buying the refrigerator. On this website you will find many reviews of refrigerators for sale that will help you to choose the best appliance for you.
